Does Random Really Exist?

I’m fascinated by the idea that although anything can happen, only one thing does happen. That reeks of fate to me. Sure, at the time all the events that occurred before today seemed totally random, but now they are fact. It was an incredible improbability that I was born the person I am. Uncountable amounts of random occurrences had to happen for me, or you for that matter, to exist. Yet, they happened; here I am. From this point my existence seems like a forgone conclusion. So does the American revolution, WWII, 9/11, etc. Were these really chance events? Can we prove that it could have happened any other way? I’m actually asking you these questions. I’m unsure of the answers and other people’s thoughts would be much appreciated.

  1. i know for a fact that it is both, that things cannot have been different yet there is infinite possibility in the individual actors… its hard to describe, but i’ve seen it. basically, we’re being pulled towards something.
