It is a social custom to not tell people what you really think about them if what you really think about them isn’t something good. Most people will lie if they don’t enjoy a piece of art a friend has made. Those who break this custom are called “Rude” or “Assholes” or “Annoying motherfuckers” and nobody likes them. This results in everyone living in their own personal reality bubble where everything they do is “good” and they always suspect that maybe people don’t like them or think they’re a bad artist but they can never tell for sure.

Many people think they can tell when someone is being phony, and they often can, but you can’t always tell or always know for sure about everyone. Perhaps the reason this custom exists is to make it easier for people to “put it out there,” you know, to put their creations and thoughts on display. It minimizes criticism. Of course it also leads to a lot of crappy shit being made, but hey, I’m not going to break it and be an asshole. Cuz assholes are full of shit.

It seems that these liberals and conservatives who are constantly arguing about bias in the media seem to be missing a key point: it is impossible to tell a story or recount an event without presenting it in a certain way. The primary reason for this being that no objective viewpoint exists anywhere, so how can we expect it from the media.

The way I see it, liberals and conservatives are both arguing on the same side in this debate: the loosing side. Both of them are screaming a the top of their lungs that there is such a thing as objectivity. “You’re presenting this in too conservative a light!” or “This is liberally biased!!” and, all together now, “BE OBJECTIVE!” Meanwhile reality is arguing the other side of the debate, saying, “Sorry guys, objectivity is a fantasy, you can’t win this one unless you invent omnipotence.” People really aught to realize this already, there is no way to be completely objective in reporting and if you’re looking for a bias, in either direction, you’re going to find one.

So will all of you whiny bitches please stop fighting a losing debate against the universe because subjectivity is winning, mind-as-universe is winning, shut the fuck up and deal with it! Not everything will go your way, acceptance of what is and will always be is essential to happiness.
