Human beings only sense changes. If something is constantly present we soon loose our awareness of it. For example, if you’re in a room with an air-conditioner droning you’ll just tune it out, but the second someone turns it off you’ll notice that it’s gone. So what if there’s some presence, some sensation, that’s always with us every day of our lives and always has been? We’d be completely unaware of it because it is completely constant.
